Industrial Glamour – Styled Shoot at River Mills Ballroom

Back in May, on a very hot & humid bank holiday, I missed a day in the garden to spend the day with a fantastic team of creative wedding suppliers.

No it wasn’t someone’s wedding day – we were having fun on a styled shoot creating a beautiful set of images to inspire you with ideas for your own wedding décor.

So what is a styled shoot and why do it?

People often ask me what is a styled shoot?  Well, it’s basically a photo shoot.  I create a mood board and share the ideas I have for the shoot with other wedding suppliers.

Suppliers will then offer their time and products to be part of the shoot.   The ideas really start flowing then when so many creative minds come together.

And then people say but why do you do them?  There are many reasons but here are the main ones:

·     We love to create new looks and designs to inspire you for your own wedding design
·     It allows us all to showcase our skills and provides a safe environment to test out new ideas as well
·     It gives us a great opportunity to work with amazing suppliers and get to know each other better
·     Keeps us out of mischief in the quieter months of the year!

The Inspiration

So this particular shoot was inspired by a simple black and white striped table runner that I saw on Instagram.

Now black and white wouldn’t usually be my personal first choice of colours for a wedding but when I added in the hot pink and gold elements I just loved it.  The elegant combination of colours were the perfect contrast to the industrial backdrop of the venue.

The shoot took place at River Mills Ballroom in Selby, and you can read more about the venue here in a review I did last week.

I also wanted to incorporate hexagons into the theme.  These were brought into the table décor as well as the cake, the wooden décor and the hanging chair signs.  I loved doing the styling for this shoot and would love to style a wedding like this!

When it came to the dress, I wanted something with some colour in it.  The Kataya Kataya range did this perfectly.  There’s a choice of slips to go under the lace dresses so you can choose your own combination.

The Outcome

We were all thrilled to have the shoot published this week on Brides Up North.  I’ve loved and followed Brides up North ever since I got married and it was always a goal of mine to be published on there.

Here are some more of my favourite images from the day:

A huge thank you to the whole team who made this possible and worked so well together to create this stunning outcome. Here’s the full list of suppliers if you’re interested in any of their products.  They all come highly recommended by me.

If you’d like some help to pull together a look like this for your day, please get in touch.  I’d love to help.
