My Top Yorkshire Marquee Wedding Venues
Maybe you’ve always dreamed of having a marquee wedding in Yorkshire?
Many marquee & tipi weddings take place in private gardens but what if your garden isn’t big enough? If none of your family have a big enough space to lend you either don’t worry, all is not lost.
There are plenty of wedding venues where you can either bring in a marquee on their land or they have a permanent marquee option.
I’ve pulled together my favourite Yorkshire venues where you can still have your dream marquee wedding if your garden just isn’t going to cut it.
Jervaulx Abbey
Jervaulx Abbey is in the rural countryside of North Yorkshire and the parkland attached to the Abbey is a beautiful setting for an outdoor wedding.
You have to bring in a marquee or tipi here as the Abbey doesn’t have a roof but it does make for an amazing backdrop and a beautiful outdoor blessing venue.
You can read more about the Abbey on my review here and see more on their website.
Smallshaw Farm Cottages & Spa
I visited Smallshaw Farm last year and I’m still hankering after a visit to the spa – hubby take note please!!
This venue has a great space where you can have your marquee situated with stunning views from it’s hilltop position. You also get access to a number of holiday cottages where you and your guests can stay to make the most it into a wedding weekend.
There’s more info on their website and my review from last year too.
Walled Garden at Beeston Fields
Okay this one isn’t in Yorkshire but it’s not far away and I love it so I’ve let it sneak onto the list.
There is a permanent marquee here so you still get the pleasure of choosing how to style the marquee without needing to think about hiring toilets and generators.
The gardens are really pretty too and you can have an outdoor wedding here in their converted greenhouse (it’s much nicer than that sounds!)
You can read my review of this venue here and see more on their website too. I did a styled shoot here too so you can some more inspirational images here.
Camp Katur
Camp Katur is a very special venue in North Yorkshire with a beautiful woodland ceremony area. It’s peaceful and tranquil and the light is just magical.
The Meadow is a 15 acre space where you can have a marquee surrounded by trees and offers you the opportunity to have a truly personal wedding.
You can read my review of the venue here and can see more on their website too. I’ve done a shoot here too which you can see here.
Almscliffe Valley
Almscliffe Valley is a great blank canvas option near Leeds. It’s an idyllic and secluded setting, with uninterrupted views of Almscliffe Crag.
There’s an extra field for parking, and space for camping and glamping so you can all stay and make a weekend of it.
I’ve got a wedding booked here in 2021 which I’m really excited about. Watch out for more info on that in the coming months.
Kilnsey Park
I’ve recently discovered this stunning venue while carrying out a venue search for one of my 2020 couples. It’s in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales which I love as our wedding was also in the Dales. This is a fantastic outdoor wedding venue with a river as well as a stream in the woodland.
There’s loads of space for your marquee or tipi as well as a camping meadow and some further accommodation in the stone barn cottage. And what’s more, the venue is licensed for civil ceremonies.
Horseshoe Farm
This is a relatively new venue between York and Wetherby. There’s a small secluded courtyard which houses the bar and accommodation for the wedding party.
There’s loads of space in the paddock for your structure and plenty of car parking too.
You can see more about this one on my review here and their website.
Cockley Woodland
Cockley Woodland is another fantastic new option for Yorkshire couples. Situated between Wakefield and Huddersfield this is a beautiful woodland venue. There’s different areas for your ceremony and reception which have been beautifully designed to complement their surroundings.
They’ve got some great prices on offer too for 2020.
Remember, one of my services is a venue search. So if you just don’t know where to start looking, maybe this is an option for you to consider. You tell me the style you’re after, what region and the approximate number of guests. Then I’ll do the ground work for you and present the best options to you.
It’s always possible to find a friendly farmer who will hire out a field if you want a truly rural marquee wedding. If you’re thinking of arranging a marquee wedding, chances are you’re going to also need a planner. You can read more about how a planner will help you with this here. Or get in touch to see how I can help you.
