Printable Games to Entertain Your Wedding Guests

One of the most important aspects of a wedding party is making it engaging for your guests. Having a detailed itinerary is crucial to keeping everyone happy on your special day.  Activities and entertainment promote social interaction and a feeling of familiarity with those around you, which is what makes events like these so special.  We have a selection of printable games for you to use at your wedding party.

The Newlywed Game is a wonderful way to get to know the couple getting married whether it be an engagement party or the official wedding ceremony.  The Newlywed Game is based on an American game show of the same name to entertain guests by putting the couple’s knowledge of one another to the test.  In the UK the equivalent of the game is “Mr and Mrs.’

The game allows the couple to recall their favourite moments as well as fun facts about each other that guests may not know.  The Newlywed game serves as a hilarious icebreaker with detailed questions.  Below, we’ve provided a step-by-step guide on how to play the game and what preparation is required.   You’ll need one of your bridal party to set up and run the game for you.

How to Play the Game

The Newlywed Game, sometimes called the honeymoon game or couples quiz, is a perfect way to break the ice at any wedding-related event.

This activity provides a fun, simple and affordable way to celebrate the union of two individuals.  First and foremost, the end result of the game is to discover which partner knows the other best by correctly predicting their responses to the revealing questions.

Step 1: Make Sure the Couple is On Board

The most crucial step to begin preparing for the game is to ask the newlyweds if they’re willing to play.  The ultimate goal is for the game to be fun and light-hearted, but the questions can potentially reveal personal information in front of the guests so it is advisable to ask what is off limits to them.  It’s also a great way to gauge their comfort level before you dive into the questions.

Step 2: Gather the Question Answers

After you’ve found the questions you’d like to ask during the game, email each partner individually with the questions for them to answer about themselves.  Make sure you give them enough time to answer them prior to the event where the game is to be played.  Make sure you remind them not to discuss the questions and to keep their answers secret.

Step 3: Find Your Emcee

One of the most important elements of an entertaining game is a host.  The perfect emcee is someone who can explain the rules to the crowd, ask tough questions and crack a few lighthearted jokes here and there!  The more personality and humour this person has, the better.

Step 4: Test Their Knowledge & Keep Score

Once you’ve completed the first three steps, you’re ready to play the game!  To begin, provide each newlywed with a fill-in-the-blank scorecard to score their partner.  The questionnaires will ask them facts about their partner which they will answer with their best guess of what their answer would be.  For each correct answer about their partner, that individual scores a point!  The newlywed with the highest score at the end of the game is the winner!
