Venue Review – Spicer Manor
Spicer Manor was a derelict farmhouse which has been lovingly restored over a ten year period by the current owners, Lisa and Nick Hunt.
It now has fantastic accommodation for 34 guests as well as being fully licenced for weddings. So if you’re looking for a beautiful, intimate wedding space; where you will have exclusive use of the venue; and you and your family can stay in luxury; then this is the place for you.
The Living Space
You enter the house into the best boot room I’ve ever seen with tons of space for coats and boots as well as a pet shower!
The kitchen is huge with multiple ovens, dishwashers, wine cooler and acres of worktop. It also has seating and fantastic views over the Yorkshire countryside making it a very sociable space.
There are 2 living rooms with plenty of comfortable sofas to seat all the family.
The bigger lounge has a bar in the corner – and I’m not talking about a dodgy wooden 70’s style affair. It’s stocked with all the glasses you could possibly need. And it’s also equipped with a fridge, wine cooler and a small freezer for ice as well as a glass washing machine. So you don’t have to carry all the glasses to the kitchen and it keeps the main dishwasher free for the pots.
This lounge can also be converted to provide a dance floor for your wedding.
The dining room has a long oak table which will seat 36 people with views over the terrace and hot tub. There are bi folding doors so you can open up the space when the weather is good (there was torrential rain when I went so I didn’t get any pics outside!)
Although the house sleeps 34 guests, you can have up to another 16 guests at a wedding.
The sweeping, galleried staircase offers the perfect spot for you to get married. You can stand at the foot of the stairs to say your vows with your guests on the stairs and balcony to they all get a great view.
All 15 bedrooms are beautifully styled and furnished to a really high standard. They’re all ensuite with amazing walk in showers. There’ll be no squabbling over the bedrooms here as they’re all fabulous.
They’re spread over 3 floors with underfloor heating and all have plenty of space – no poky box room going on here!
The catering for your wedding will be provided by Bradley’s Outside Catering. And if you want catering at any other point during your stay this can also be arranged with Bradley’s.
The Additional Features
There’s a great games room which will keep everyone entertained as well as the most amazing cinema room. The sound system makes you feel like you really are at the cinema and it’s kitted out with comfortable seating and all the technology you could possibly need.
On the outside terrace there are 2 hot tubs as well as plenty of seating and tables.
An additional event room is currently being developed in the grounds too which will be able to accommodate larger wedding parties. I can’t wait to go back to see this once it’s finished.
Spicer Manor really is impressive. They will always have people on site on your wedding day to make sure everything runs smoothly. And are happy to move furniture to accommodate your wedding set up. Lisa has thought of everything and more and you couldn’t ask for a better option for an intimate wedding.
