Venue Review – White Syke Fields

Recently I visited White Syke Fields with one of my couples who were looking for a dry hire venue for their upcoming wedding.  White Syke Fields is situated on the edge of a quiet village on the outskirts of York.

It’s a fabulous barn venue with multiple spaces available to you and it’s a complete blank canvas so you can really let your imagination run wild.

As the venue is a true dry hire venue you will need to bring in caterers, furniture and any décor that you want.Venue Review - White Syke Fields

The Piggery

The Piggery is the smaller of the 2 barns and is licensed for civil ceremonies.

It can accommodate up to 100 guests so makes a more intimate option for your ceremony or for smaller weddings.

There are rustic beams coupled with white washed walls and an industrial style ceiling with big skylights meaning it’s a lovely light space.

The Wheelhouse

The Wheelhouse is just amazing – it’s a real wow space.  It’s a huge barn with exposed red brick walls and plenty of beams to hang lights and décor from.

This barn is also licensed for civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 400 guests.

There is a door at one side which is big enough to enable vehicles to be driven into the barn.  This means your caterers can bring their equipment in to set up.  Alternatively you could have a selection of street food vans lined up along one wall.

Yorkshire Bartender provides the bar service with exclusive packages for couples and a resident bar in situ.

Because there’s so much space in here, you could easily create different zones such as a chill out area, a catering area, a games areas, a dance floor, the formal dining area and anything else you can think of!

There are toilets in an outbuilding near the barn but there are only 2 available.  So if you have a lot of guests you might want to hire in some additional loos.

The Woodland

There’s a gorgeous woodland on site too.  You can’t legally get married there but you could have a blessing or celebrant ceremony.

And even if you don’t do that it will make a fantastic spot for your photos.

There’s also a small lake with a beautiful weeping willow over it.  An amazing back drop for photos but also the perfect chill out area on a sunny day.

If you’re looking for something a bit different with lots of character then this could be the perfect option for you.  Planning a wedding here will mean you need more suppliers than other venues though so do get in touch if you’d like some help to pull everything together.  I love the versatility of this venue and would love to get creative in that big barn.

You can see more about the venue here and about my planning services here.  Please get in touch if you’d like to chat about how I can help you with your wedding plans.
