Venue Review – Woodsome Hall
If you’re looking for a wedding venue with tons of character and history, then this 16th century, grade 1 listed hall in West Yorkshire could well be the place for you.
I went to visit Woodsome Hall a few weeks back. Dave Carlisle, the friendly General Manager, told me all about the history of the place and how the weddings are run here.
As Woodsome Hall is home to an established golf course, Dave has worked hard to find solutions for holding weddings here whilst minimising the impact of the wedding on the golf club members.
The Dining Room
The Dining Room is packed full of amazing features like the walk in fireplace and the minstrels gallery. This is where your wedding breakfast will be served and the room can seat up to 60 guests.
There’s another historic room, the Dartmouth room, leading off here and to the Bar. This gives your guests plenty of space to relax before and after the wedding breakfast.
There are 3 wedding packages to choose from, allowing you to choose the best option for you and your guests.
This is a wonderful option to have your drinks reception outside on the terrace in front of the main building. It has fantastic views of the course and the Yorkshire countryside beyond.
The hall behind you and the views looking out mean that this space will make a beautiful backdrop for some of your wedding photos.
One of my favourite spots is the Courtyard. It’s a really pretty enclosed area with wooden seating and a water feature which is over 150 years old.
I suspect it’s a bit of a sun trap and again will be a beautiful back drop for couple shots.
The Marquee Options
If you have more than 60 guests, you can still hold your wedding reception here. There are 2 amazing options to have a marquee here.
You can have a marquee or tipi on the lawn behind the courtyard which is the perfect setting surrounded by established trees.
Alternatively, they have a clever marquee option which fits perfectly inside the courtyard. This option can accommodate up to 110 guests.
There are 8 rooms available in a separate building which can be booked for guests who wish to stay overnight. The rooms are all ensuite with lovely views over the golf course. A special rate is available for your guests which includes a full English breakfast. Just what everyone needs the morning after a wedding!
I know that Dave makes a real effort to provide personalised service to all couples who are getting married here and he will really look after you. This is a great option for a wedding in a history filled venue with top quality catering. And because they don’t hold hundreds of weddings here, you’re never going to feel like you’re on a conveyor belt and just a booking in the diary.
