Venue Review – Yummy Yorkshire
Yummy Yorkshire is set in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside in Denby Dale, near Huddersfield. Back in 2007 the farm owners started making artisan ice cream. Since then it has grown into a busy, popular restaurant and ice cream parlour. You can have your wedding reception and evening party here too.
You have to remember that Yummy Yorkshire is a real working farm. So they don’t hold weddings every weekend – which makes it even more special – and it smells of the countryside. It’s not for you if you want a glamorous posh venue but it is for you if you love the countryside, animals and great food.
The access to the venue is good too. It’s just off a main road and there is no bumpy single track drive to navigate your way down like a lot of farms.
This is a real, actual barn in great condition with straw bales. It has lots of twinkly fairy lights and the roof has plenty of skylights so you’ll have a beautiful atmospheric space in the evening.
It looks equally lovely with long rustic tables or more formal round tables, so you can choose the style you prefer with confidence.
There’s also a fully licenced bar in the barn so you don’t need to worry about hiring a bar service.
The barn works for weddings with guest numbers between 50 and 120.
The Hide and Hoof restaurant at Yummy Yorkshire serves delicious food with locally sourced ingredients. They will provide the catering for your wedding party so you can be sure your guests will be well fed and you won’t have any complaints about the food.
An Outdoor Wedding?
If you’re after an outdoor venue for a marquee or tipi (and/or you have more than 120 guests) then the field behind the barn could be the option for you.
There’s no limit to the number of guests you can have with this option. There are fantastic views over West Yorkshire from the field as well.
The field hire also includes access to power, a luxury toilet trailer, the licensed bar and one night’s security. So many of your usual ‘add ons’ for a marquee wedding are taken care of.
This is a smaller space inside the main building above the restaurant and can be hired for 2 hours on weekdays. It’s an ideal space for a more intimate wedding reception as it can seat up to 30 guests. It has a lovely vaulted ceiling and lots of quirky details in the decor.
Yummy Yorkshire makes award winning ice cream. And you can have their vintage ice cream trailer at your wedding for dessert or during your drinks reception to accompany a glass of fizz. Sounds like a great combo to me!
You can choose 7 flavours to be served for 90 minutes.

This is a great option for a relaxed, slightly quirky wedding in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Give me a shout if you need some help to plan your wedding here (or anywhere else for that matter!)
