Camp Katur – Venue Review

A few weeks ago, on a beautiful sunny day, I headed up to North Yorkshire to visit Camp Katur.  And I didn’t want to leave………

There’s something magical about Camp Katur, such a tranquil place that makes you forget about the stresses of everyday life.

There’s so much to it as well.  I’m obviously going to focus on the wedding details but you should also check out the glamping, the activities, events and corporate offers they have.  They really do have something for everyone.

They offer the perfect space for relaxed weddings where you can create your own day.

Here’s what you’ll find:

The Rustic Barn

The Barn is such a lovely space.  With it’s original features, it makes a fantastic space for a wedding reception.  It has amazing beams and exposed bricks walls and lovely big windows at the front.

There’s a bar in here and a cute chill out space on a mezzanine level.  You can have a blessing or ceremony in here as well as your wedding reception and evening party.

It can accommodate up to 150 guests seated on trestle tables and up to 300 guests standing.

There is a lovely garden area outside the barn for your drinks reception and there’s also space for garden games to entertain your guests.

The Woodland Ceremony

This area can seat 130 guests on wooden benches and up to 200 guests standing.  It’s hidden away with a cute woodland path leading to it through the tall pine trees.

You can dress this area in so many pretty ways with any combination of things hanging between the trees.  Think fairy lights, lanterns, flowers, dream catchers, pom poms, bunting………the only limit is your imagination really.

I love this outdoor space, it has such a magical feel to it.  And when the sun is shining through the leaves on the tress, it just looks amazing.

You can have a humanist ceremony here in the woodland or a blessing.  You can’t legally get married at Camp Katur.

The Meadowland

The Meadow is a 15 acre open space, surrounded by woodlands. You can have exclusive hire of this space which allows you and your guests to celebrate in style without disturbing other guests.

You do have to book it for a minimum of 2 nights but I think this is a great opportunity to have a wedding weekend, rather than a wedding day.  Why not extend the party into a full weekend of fun?

You can also bring in a marquee or tipi to hold your wedding reception and/or party in if you prefer this to the barn.  This would be positioned on the meadow giving you a unique woodland setting for your day.

Accommodation

Around the edges of the Meadow and in the surrounding woodland there’s a range of Glamping Accommodation where all your guests can stay in comfort for the weekend.   This accommodation can sleep up to 65 guests and includes bell tents, safari tents, hobbit pods, teepees, unidomes and geodomes.

If you have more guests who want to stay over, you are also allowed to pitch your own tents so you can extend the numbers further this way. There’s a great shower and loo block too for those using their own tent.

On the edge of the meadow, there’s also a great space with a barbeque oven and a chill out seating area.  This is a fab space for everyone to gather on the evening before your wedding.  There’s also a communal kitchen here which all guests can use.
There’s lots more to discover too, including the outdoor eco spa and the various activities on offer.

Pod at Camp Katur
